        By mutual agreement, the parties can extend the contract, first for 2 years, so that it applies up until 31.5.2023. By mutual agreement, the parties can then extend the contract for a further 2 years, so that it applies up until 31.5.2025. Such extension must be agreed at the latest 6 months prior to the expiry of the contract, regardless of whether this is in accordance with the original contract period, or a mutually agreed extension period.

        The Builder also has a unilateral option to extend the contract for 12 months. This option concerns both expiry of the original contract period and with expiry of any mutual extensions of the contract, as discussed in the section above. If the Builder wants to extend the contract in accordance with this unilateral option, written notification must be given to the contractor at the latest 4 months before the contract expires, whether this is accordance with the original contract period, or mutually agreed extension period.
