        The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (SVV) has been tasked with investigating technical solutions to replace all ferry services on E39 with fixed connections. Wind and wind power assessments are a significant part of the design work. It is therefore necessary to carry out experiments in a wind tunnel.

        Framework agreements with be signed with three tenderers in each sub-contract.

      12. Description of the procurement:

        Testing of section models, including testing of vortex shedding requires a wind tunnel that has a test area with a minimum cross sectional area of 2.0 m wide and 2.4 m high. The maximum requirement for the wind tunnel is 8.0 m wide.

        The laboratory facilities should be ready to execute section model testing to determine: Statistical load co-efficiencies, vortex shedding, instability limit (speed limit for flutter), aerodynamically derived (Scanlan type) and aerodynamic admittance functions.

        Planning, preparation and testing of aeroelastic complete bridge model to identify vortex shedding of the bridge slab, buffeting response and verification of flutter wind speed. It may also be relevant to test topography to identify average wind flow and turbulence intensities. These tests require a wind tunnel that has a testing area with the minimum dimensions 11.0 m (wide) x 11.0 m (length) x 2.5 m (height).
